Charity delivers hampers to Westminster’s elderly

Published: 6 January, 2017

A FOUNDATION set up in memory of a former Westminster Council leader has delivered 370 hampers to help older people and combat loneliness.

Trustee of the Simon Milton Foundation and the council’s older people’s champion, Christabel Flight handed out gifts a few days before Christmas with fellow councillor Nickie Aiken.

Augustina, the daughter of one recipient, said: “My mother is on a very low fixed income and struggles to cope on a daily basis. At first she was worried about a big parcel arriving on her doorstep, but once I had explained what was going on it really lifted her spirits and at the end of a very difficult year has transformed the end of it into a very happy one.”

The Berkeley Foundation, part of the property development group donated £13,000.
