Use empty space for businesses

Published: 27 January, 2012

• Following its closure some while ago, the former giant Safeways/ Morrisons/ Co-operative premises in Edgware Road W2 has remained empty and forlorn.

What a waste of space!

Why can’t it be adopted by Westminster City Council and promoted as an indoor market, renting out space for the use of a variety of small business outlets that need a “shop-front” and could not otherwise obtain or afford the appropriate business property in this age of austerity.

Shouldn’t every chance be given to the “small man or woman” who so often represents the ingenuity and ambition that have been features of so many of this country’s business success stories?
