THE chairman of a residents’ association has said he fears more people will urinate in public after the council said users of some of its loos could have to pay up to 50p to spend a penny.
John Zamit, who heads the South East Bayswater Residents’ Association, said he was pleased that at least half of the borough’s public toilets would remain free to use, but said concerns remain about others.
City Hall is in the process of finalising a plan which would involve leasing out 20 of its public conveniences to a private provider.
A City Hall spokesman said the scheme would mean public loos across the centre of London would remain open for at least the next 10 years.
