Gung Hey Fat Choy! That’s happy new year for those unacquainted with the languages of China

Among those who are set to pay a visit to the oriental powerhouse are these lucky young people from St George’s School in Maida Vale, who will jet off to Shanghai next week.

Their itinerary includes a visit to the Jade Buddha temple, a look round the Shanghai museum and a cruise along the Huangpo River.

It's all in aid of broadening horizons and learning about the history and culture of the mammoth country, described by many as the world's next superpower.

The West End Extra hopes the pupils dip into our special Chinese New Year supplement, which can be found inside this week’s issue, and wishes them bon voyage!
