WORD reaches me of a rare opportunity to get involved in a project that turns its lens on our very own Hampstead Heath. Film-maker Nick Hillel, who is based in Tufnell Park, has been given the go-ahead from Heath managers the City of London to create Heath Life, a film celebrating our open space, and considering its history and what it means to Londoners today.
Nick is looking for people who can help fund the project. He has opted to use a “crowd funding” system, which means lots of people can own a little bit of the film. It’s similar to sponsoring someone to do a charity run, but with the added benefits that not only will you be helping to capture for posterity what the Heath means to us in 2010 and how it was saved for the nation, but you will also have some added movie-mogul-style perks as the production takes place – including workshops, guided walks round the Heath by historians and invites to the premiere.
Nick is trying to raise enough cash to film two seasons on the Heath – winter and spring.
I can vouch for Nick’s immense talent and skill: check out his website www.yeastculture.orgfor examples of his work – and got to www.heathlife.co.uk for more information on the project and how a few quid from you can help.
