I am delighted to support London’s Chinese New Year celebrations, which each year bring an exhilarating burst of colour to the centre of town.
Among the biggest outside China – reflecting our city’s large and vibrant Chinese community – this fabulous event attracts people of all ages and from all walks of life.
In 2012, the celebrations herald the Year of the Dragon, the mightiest of the signs. Dragons are driven, unafraid of challenges, passionate and enthusiastic. I hope these attributes will help take us through a period of great uncertainty and help us emerge once again into prosperity.
One of the first major public events of 2012, in the spirit of the Dragon the Chinese New Year celebrations also help kick off a momentous year for capital.
As the Olympic and Paralympic Games get under way there will be other celebrations in every borough to create a summer like no other.
The eyes of the world will be on capital and with the Year of the Dragon’s themes of passion, ambition and success, I can think of no better way to help launch a year of amazing highlights.
All health and happiness in the coming year.

Happy New Year!
